Checkers

About Game

Checkers is a classic strategic board game for two players played on an 8x8 board using only the dark squares. Players move their pieces diagonally, capturing opponent pieces and promoting men to kings. This version keeps the standard checkers rules and adds character selection so you can choose different avatars before the match.

The game supports several modes: a match against the computer, online battles with other players, and a two‑player mode on one device. Regardless of the mode, the core is traditional checkers gameplay focused on planning moves, controlling space, and capturing or blocking the opponent’s pieces.

How to play

The goal of the game is to capture all of your opponent’s pieces or block all of their possible moves using standard checkers rules. At the start, each player controls 12 pieces placed on the dark squares of the three rows closest to them. Players move alternately and can first choose their character avatar, then select a game mode: versus computer, online, or two players on the same device.

Men move diagonally forward to an adjacent empty dark square. To capture, a piece jumps diagonally over an adjacent opposing piece into the empty square immediately beyond it. If after a capture another capture is possible, you must continue jumping in a single turn until no more captures are available. Capturing is mandatory whenever a legal capture exists.

When a man reaches the last rank on the opponent’s side of the board, it is promoted to a king. Kings move and capture diagonally both forward and backward, still staying on dark squares and following the same jumping rules. The game ends when one player has no legal moves left because all of their pieces are captured or blocked, or when a draw is agreed according to standard checkers conventions.
